Editorial methodology

We publish the rules so you can audit them. Last reviewed Q2 2026.

Who gets listed

Any IT services provider doing meaningful work in Greater Los Angeles can apply via /get-listed. Basic listings are free and reviewed by an editor. We exclude shell companies, lead-broker sites with no delivery capacity, and firms with active regulatory actions for fraud.

The Verified badge

The Verified badge appears next to a provider's name on profiles, hub pages, and compare tables. To earn it a provider must pass all five checks:

  1. Active California business registration.
  2. Current general liability and cyber liability insurance ($1M+ each).
  3. Two reference calls with current LA-area customers in the last 12 months.
  4. Public domain age ≥ 18 months with consistent contact information.
  5. Documented response-time SLA matching what is shown on the profile.

We re-verify annually. A failed re-verification removes the badge until the provider re-passes. Tooltips on every Verified badge link back to this section.

Featured is a paid placement tier ($599/mo). Featured providers appear at the top of relevant service and neighborhood hubs and are clearly labeled "Featured". Disclosures appear inline next to every Featured card and on the page footer of any hub showing one. Featured status does not influence rating, review display, the awards list, or our editorial cost guides.

Ranking signals

Within a hub, providers are sorted by a deterministic formula:

  1. Featured placements first (capped at 2 per hub, disclosed).
  2. Verified providers next, ordered by rating (≥4 reviews required to rank).
  3. All other published providers, ordered by rating then review count.

We do not accept payment to change ranking within a tier.

Review moderation

Reviews are public and tied to an email we can reach. We remove reviews that violate our review guidelines — spam, undisclosed conflicts, defamation, or content that isn't about a real engagement. Providers can respond publicly but cannot remove a review.
